Hotel Options
When looking to book your hotel room for the event, avoid booking the week-end before as it is the Marathon and room prices will be high.
A partnership with CitizenM, a European hotel chain, was established to offer 15% discount on nights booked for the event. The hotel is geared towards solo travelers coming from the US, Canada or France.
- All rooms are the same compact but well-designed size with king beds, rainfall showers, and smart controls for everything via tablet – perfect for short stays where you’ll spend most time out socializing
- The spacious ground floor lounges are ideal gathering spots for impromptu alumni meetups, with 24/7 food and drinks available and plenty of comfortable seating areas for groups
- Both hotels feature superb rooftops and are close to public transportation with easy access from airports
The chain has 2 hotels in New York City and the discount is available for either hotel. If you are looking for convenience in terms of transportation, Times Square is the best option but will be noisier than Bowery. Bowery is in a hip neighborhood, less corporate and its rooftop feature a unique view of the city.
- Times Square location
- Bowery location (Lower East Side)
Other Options
Here are other options in a lower price range although availability may be limited at that period of the year. These options are in Long Island City that is just cross the East River, next to the subway stations Court Square or Queensboro Plaza so one can be in Manhattan in minutes.
- The Local (hostel with a very nice rooftop) – this is a low cost option
- Sonder (possible to rent apartments rather than traditional hotel rooms and if you book early, prices can be affordable) – various locations Midtown and Downtown, as well as Long Island City.
